Loader, personalised results and email capture in web quizzes
How to design the end of a web quiz — content-filled loaders with last mini-questions, a profile/results payoff, goal and commitment screens, a supported email screen, and future/before-after visualisation before the paywall.
Loader, personalised results and email capture in web quizzes
TL;DR
- Never show a loader alone: Igor’s clients saw higher drop-off on bare progress-bar loaders than on any other screen. Fill loaders with reviews, content previews or quick questions12.
- Ask 1–3 light questions during the “building your plan” loader — it reinforces that the plan is personalised2.
- Give a payoff: a profile (“Here’s your AI experience profile”) plus a goal and time commitment3.
- Don’t show a bare email field + Continue — address “why do you need it / will you spam me?” with reassurance, awards or a preview of what they’ll get24.
- Then visualise the future (projected metric, before/after) right before the paywall45.
Details
Loader. Use the “we’re preparing your program” moment for social proof (a user review) or a sneak peek at the app’s content. Slot in final questions such as “Do you self-reflect?” or “Do you like to learn by listening?” — the latter implies audiobooks without pitching the feature, and makes the user think about the problem, raising its value12.
Results/profile. Coursiv turns the answers into a BuzzFeed-style “here’s who you are” profile, then asks for something special to achieve (start a business, save for a home, plan a vacation) and how many minutes a day they’ll invest; Steve notes Duolingo found commitment screens improve retention3. It then asks for email, name, shows a readiness score, and goes to the paywall6.
Email screen. Email is the key asset for lifecycle marketing and winback (Winback email sequence for web2app quiz completers)6. Support it with logos/awards (“Editor’s Choice”, “App of the Day”) or by showing the product/plan they’ll receive, and state that you won’t spam4.
Future + before/after. Almost every funnel follows email with (1) a projected metric over time and (2) a before/after. People images usually sell better; Headway uses its own brain illustrations, which fits its brand4. Coursiv’s paywall leads with “Now vs Goal” — before/afters work for education, not just fitness7.
Name personalisation. Asking for the name lets you reuse it, e.g. a coupon code like Steve_July2025 on the paywall8.
