Which funnel to launch with — the "Occam's razor" structure per vertical
Stefan Georgi's 2026 rule that the simplest funnel that works wins — ads → product page for DTC, ads → landing page for info, VSL → book-a-call with a qualifying form for high ticket, a quiz → trial for subscription apps (expect to run negative), and a low-ticket test before launching high ticket to cold traffic.
Which funnel to launch with
TL;DR
- Default to the simplest thing that works. DTC/ecom: ads → product page. Info: ads → landing page. Add advertorials, listicles, quizzes or upsells only when the simple version stalls.
- High ticket: ads or VSL → book a call, with the qualifying questions inside the booking form → reminders so people show up → sell on the call. Skip the extra “Google Doc sales page” step.
- High ticket with no warm audience: test a low-ticket offer (~$37) on cold traffic first, to learn which angles and pain points make people buy. Then build the high-ticket offer.
- Subscription apps on cold traffic are hard. The category standard is ads → quiz → personalised result → trial. Expect to be negative for a couple of months, and test card-up-front vs no-card trials.
- Formats: on-page VSLs mostly don’t work any more, especially for audiences under ~65. Long text sales letters have been scaling on Meta again.

Occam’s razor. Stefan Georgi sees new brands and VSL marketers moving to branded ecom and overcomplicating launches. His rule is that the simplest, least complex thing that works is best. For DTC that’s ads → product page (PDP). For info, ads → landing page.12 When it’s working, adding steps can hurt (Do order bumps and upsells still pay on Meta? (AOV up, CAC up)).
High-ticket service beta (fintech done-for-you product, ~$15K). The proposed flow was VSL → survey → Google Doc sales page → book a call → close. Stefan would cut the Google Doc page. He’d run VSL → book a call, qualify inside the booking form, send reminders and get them to show. The baseline data to collect is bookings, show rate and lead quality.34
High-ticket concierge for C-suite career pivots (55+). Without notoriety or a warm audience, he doesn’t know how to launch high ticket first. His suggestion is a cheap test (e.g. a ~$37 plan) to find the motivator and messaging, then a webinar or book-a-call ascension.567 On angle, loss aversion usually wins historically. But for biz-op/AI offers his members see opportunity framing (“be the one your younger colleagues envy”) outperform fear, partly because scared buyers are in a worse mental state to buy.8
Subscription app (The Rally, a wellness app for busy women). It had ~170 paying subscribers, mostly from an email waitlist and the founder’s podcast audience, a <$5K/month budget and a goal of 500 by August.9
- First, scale what already works. Warm organic converts best. Stefan’s wife built 433K Instagram followers in a year and sells a $27 course via stories and ManyChat for $20–25K in some months, with no funnel.10
- Cold traffic: subscription is hard to sell cold. The successful apps he studies (weight-loss apps, BetterMe, Soulmate Sketch, Shadow-work apps) all run ads → quiz → results → app with a forced subscription.1112 He’d do ads → quiz → “your plan + the app to implement it”, with a 3–7-day free trial, and expect to run negative for a couple of months.1112
- Test the card: card at point of sale (auto-rebill, more aggressive) vs letting them try and converting with in-app notifications and a robust email follow-up.13
- Some of those quizzes are far longer than they need to be.1314 StefanBrain’s own answer was the simpler ad → lander → trial start, and Stefan says either is worth testing.1516
- Build tools: ClickFunnels or ThriveCart for checkout. He also says Manus, Claude Code or Codex can build a quiz funnel quickly.17
Formats in 2026. On-page VSLs “tend to not work”, but some people are scaling text sales letters on Meta again.18 For a German dating offer he says VSLs “aren’t what they used to be”, except perhaps for audiences 65+.19
Disagreements / caveats
- Web2app practitioners debate quiz vs direct-to-store (Send paid traffic to a web quiz or straight to the App Store?) and quiz length (How long should a web2app quiz be?). Stefan only says long quizzes seem unnecessary. He gives no test data.
- This is live-workshop advice from short submissions, and he says several times he lacks context.
- “Occam’s razor” applies at launch. Scaling into colder audiences often does need bridge pages (Scaling ad spend past a plateau — testing budget, awareness levels and bridge pages, Choosing the pain point and awareness level for a DTC offer).
