A six-email sequence that turns cold paid leads into buyers in 7 days (Alex Cattoni's workshop funnel)

Alex Cattoni's evergreen post-opt-in sequence for a free workshop — deliver the promise with a 24-hour 20%-off low-ticket P.S., then bridge to the core course with problem, proof, objections and a real deadline — with open/click rates per email (57%/19% down to 36%/1.5%), 5.1% and 3.6% buyer rates from 7,354 Meta leads, and why the non-sales first email drove the most revenue.

A six-email sequence that turns cold leads into buyers in 7 days

TL;DR

  • Funnel: Meta ads → free “email story workshop” → six automated emails over ~7 days. Offer 1 is a $27 mini course (20% off for 24h). Offer 2 is the core course (over 7x the price), pitched in the workshop.
  • Results (cold paid leads only, <1 year): 7,354 leads. 5.12% bought the $27 course and 3.59% bought the core course, for over $51K within 7 days of opt-in. More came later.
  • Email jobs, in order: engagement → quick solution → belief → proof → certainty → scarcity.
  • Email 1 isn’t a sales email, but it drove the most revenue: 223 buyers and ~$55K came from people who engaged with it (foot-in-the-door).
  • Open and click rates fall steadily (57%/19% → 36%/1.5%). That’s expected, because the sequence filters for readiness. The final, real-deadline email alone made $7K+.

Details

Alex Cattoni’s metrics below are for leads from paid media (Facebook ads) into her free workshop funnel, running a little under a year.1

#Timing / jobWhat it doesOpen / CTR
1Immediately — deliver the promiseReminds them what they’ll learn, with the watch link up front. The P.S. offers the related $27 mini course at 20% off for 24 hours, for fast buyers.57.09% / 19.28%
2+9 hours — make the next step obvious“Have you watched yet?”, then connects the workshop to the mini course and gives a last call on the 20%. 500+ clicked.49.5% / 6.89%
3Bridge to the main problemMoves to the core course (Own the Inbox). Opens with a relatable problem (“great story, no idea how to connect it to a sale”) and “widens the gap” (writing one email ≠ running a sales campaign). The offer comes only at the end.49.75% / 5%
4Build desire with proof“One giant receipt”: students’ 40–60% open rates, revenue, clients won, then restate the offer.38.74% / 2.93%
5Overcome objectionsFAQ format (do I need a list? my industry? I’m new? how is this different from the mini course? what do I get?), each answer backed by testimonials.37.55% / 2.57%
6Reason to act nowRecap, and the $50 discount ends. Only real urgency: the course stays available at full price.36.31% / 1.47% (>$7K)

Why it works (her framing). Each email asks for one small, logical “yes”: sign up → open → watch → click → buy. That’s the foot-in-the-door effect. The low-ticket offer must be directly relevant to what they opted in for, not a random product off the shelf.314 The six emails “sell” engagement, a quick solution, belief, proof, certainty and scarcity in turn.15

The reveal. Over the year, 223 people who engaged with email 1 went on to buy something, worth nearly $55K. Including organic sales, the funnel totals about $67K, which is why it exceeds the $51K paid-only number.1617 She could only see this because leads were tagged and tracked through the journey.17

Disagreements / caveats

  • Her list is copywriters and marketers, an unusually email-engaged audience. Expect lower open rates in most consumer markets, and opens are inflated by Apple Mail privacy anyway.
  • Revenue attribution is by engagement with an email, not a holdout. Email 1’s “$55K” overlaps with sales credited to later emails.
  • The video is sponsored by HubSpot and promotes her courses.
  • Stefan Georgi says email “is not what it used to be” and suggests WhatsApp communities in some markets (Growing LTV behind a low-ticket front end — ascension, WhatsApp communities, list monetisation).
