RevenueCat charts and features worth using
The RevenueCat views Steve checks — revenue by country/transaction type/product, relative trial conversion, realised LTV per customer, Apple Ads attribution — plus Experiments, Paywalls and web Funnels.
RevenueCat charts and features worth using
TL;DR
- Revenue → segment by Country: spot unexpected markets (Steve found traction in Kenya for a new app → started local ASO/Apple Ads).
- Revenue → Transaction type (new vs renewal): new revenue should outpace renewals; renewals > new = a dying app.
- Revenue → Product: which plan earns most (yearly for Steve’s 37k-MRR app).
- Trial Conversion (relative): start rate and trial-to-paid — the two numbers Steve asks every client.
- Realised LTV per customer: vary the lifetime window (30 days → 12/18/24 months) to see how long payback takes.
- Experiments for A/B tests even with custom paywalls; read initial conversions and LTV/revenue at the bottom of the full report.
Details
Example app: ~$37k MRR health & fitness app Steve’s team bought.1 Country segmentation (under customer segmentation) shows most revenue from the US, some Canada/UK.12
Transaction type. January: ~$56k total, ~$22–23k renewals, ~$34k new. July had lower new and higher renewal revenue — not the trend Steve wants; it coincided with reduced ad spend (most profitable month, but new sales must keep growing). Clients whose renewals outpace new revenue are living off old users.23
Trial conversion. Switch from absolute to relative to see start rate and trial-to-paid (benchmarks in Subscription funnel benchmarks (trial start, trial-to-paid, install-to-paid, LTV per install)).4
Realised LTV per customer. Key for deciding whether paid media can work; Steve’s rule of thumb is ~$3. His app: ~$3 at 30 days and still only ~$3.3 at 12, 18 and 24 months — so waiting longer doesn’t change much. Levers: conversion rates and pricing.567
Apple Ads attribution. RevenueCat can act as an attribution source for Apple Ads (Acquisition → by campaign); Steve couldn’t get it working but has seen clients do it.7
Paywalls / Experiments. Steve finds RevenueCat’s paywall builder basic and uses a custom paywall, but runs A/B tests with Experiments — e.g. money-back-guarantee copy (Paywall visuals — video, photos and social proof).78
Funnels (web2app). Steve plans to test RevenueCat web funnels for an older audience whose Meta ads have great hook/hold rates and CPIs but installs that don’t convert — hypothesis: they’d rather buy on the web.9
API → AI reports. Pull RevenueCat data via API and have Claude build an internal dashboard/weekly report.10
Disagreements / caveats
- Feature set as of Aug 2026. Steve’s channel often partners with tool vendors; treat tool praise accordingly.
