Product-page anatomy — header, carousel, description and support content
Ezra Firestone's four-section PDP (header, carousel, buy box, stacked conversion-support content) — ≥8 images incl. in-use shots, 5–10 s demo video, "2 headlines, 6 bullets, 1 story" description, USP images, social proof, FAQ, second CTA and cross-sell.
Product-page anatomy
The PDP is “the most important page” of a store; its only goal is the add-to-cart click (Ezra Firestone, Ezra Firestone, 2023)1.
TL;DR
- Four sections: header → carousel → buy box → stacked conversion-support content1.
- Carousel: 60%+ of visitors engage with it (heatmaps); ≥8 looks, both product-on-white and in-use (the more important), fast-loading, zoomable, plus a 5–10 s video/GIF2345.
- Description formula: 2 headlines, 6 bullets, 1 story — headline + 3 bullets on ownership benefits, headline + 3 bullets on features, a mini story on why to buy; alternate text/media left-right67.
- Below it: USP images, guarantee, second CTA that jumps back to the buy box, social proof/reviews, FAQ, “you might also like”89.
Details
Header. Access to non-product pages (About, Contact, Returns) without getting in the way; cart access; brand tagline; a CTA; often sticky1011.
Carousel. Goals: show the product, demonstrate the ownership benefit, build desire. Ezra cites “90% of information to the brain is visual” and “93% of consumers consider images essential” (unsourced stats)3. Tips: high quality — if no pro, shoot outdoors in natural light on an iPhone; show it open/closed, multiple angles, in its intended environment; show how it’s made / ingredients4. Serve responsive image sizes so it loads instantly; a 1–2 px border; hover/zoom — engaged users zoom in and out1213. Add a short demo video or GIF of the product in motion5.
Description. Answer: who it’s for, basic details, where/when used, why better, how it works, buyer lingo, ingredients/materials, science/proof14. Tell mini-stories: who made it, what inspired it, how it was tested, what obstacle was overcome. People scan, so headlines and bullets carry the page156.
- USP images (100% natural, made in USA, satisfaction guarantee), repeated near the lower CTA.
- Social-proof images: customer counts, expert/celebrity/press mentions, certifications, “100 five-star reviews”.
- Reviews widget (Yotpo, Stamped, Loox named), or a hand-built testimonial block.
- FAQ accordion, first item expanded: not everyone opens it, but those who do are much more likely to buy; more important for higher-priced items. Fill it with real support questions, refund policy, shipping time.
- Cross-sell at the bottom (“You might also like”, bundles, frequently bought together) for people who won’t buy this item.
Disagreements / caveats
- This is a traditional e-commerce PDP; Ezra separates it from long-form sales pages18. Dose (2026) sends paid traffic to persona landing pages/listicles, keeping the PDP for email/SMS/organic (Persona landing pages, listicles and promo assets).
- Video is a 2023 Zipify Pages (Ezra’s product) demo; features described as built-in exist in other builders too.
