summary: When to repost a promising UGC video (10–20K views and ≥3% engagement) and when to put paid money behind it (engagement rate >7.5–10%, 3–5× the account's average). Spark/partnership budgets and kill rules, and the counter-evidence that dedicated paid creative beats recycled organic.

# Reposting and boosting organic winners

## TL;DR
- **Engagement rate (ER)** = (likes + comments + saves + shares) / views. Drew Levin's bands: **>7.5–8% good, >12% tends to go very viral**.[^1][^2]
- **Repost early**: at **10–20K views with ≥3% ER**, Dawson Gibbs has creators repost the same video (or re-film it with a new text hook). If reposts keep getting 10K+ for 4–5 days, one usually hits **500K–1M**.[^3][^4]
- **Spark (TikTok)**: test **$20** behind videos above ~7.5–10% ER, or **$50–100/day for a week**; keep going while CPMs stay low (often **under $1**); **kill when ER falls below ~5%**.[^5][^6][^7]
- Spark a video doing **3–5× the account's average views** — it also lifts the account's future organic reach.[^8]
- Ranking for what to spark: **comment sentiment** ("what is that app?") > ER > average views. Don't spark while organic is still climbing; wait a day or two.[^7]
- Don't let **sparked views count towards creator view bonuses**.[^5]

## Details
**Brand-page reposts.** Dupe.com reposts creator videos that pass ~20K views to its main page as **Instagram collab posts**, which don't hurt the creator's views.[^9]

**Why organic-first ([[people/drew-levin]]).** UGC is the fastest testing engine for positioning: thousands of tests with organic upside. Spark/partnership ads from creator accounts beat whitelisted ads from a brand account, and organic-sourced users are higher quality (they searched, downloaded, paid, then came back to comment).[^10] Drew reports Spark ROAS tracks organic ROAS, with organic ~15–20% better.[^6] GoWish reached #1 in the App Store almost entirely on cheap Spark spend run by an agency.[^5]

**Meta partnership ads vs TikTok Spark.** Partnership ads are Meta's equivalent, via a creator code. On Meta use **targeting** rather than optimising for reach; Drew saw higher conversion on partnership ads than Spark, even from small UGC accounts. Meta seeds distribution by follower similarity; TikTok by who watched.[^11][^12] Have creators **cross-post** to every platform.[^12]

**The counter-view: dedicated paid creative.** [[people/jake-castillo]]: Cal AI first recycled influencer content into paid with "some results", but **dedicated paid creative performed far better**. Organic integrations are subtle by design; when you pay per view, every impression should get a hard sell, with a hook related to the product.[^13][^14] Coconote ([[people/zack-hargett]]) also found that putting ad spend behind 30M-view organic videos didn't work as expected. A clip agency cutting raw creator B-roll into performance edits outperformed, though paid never became first-purchase profitable for them.[^15][^16]

## Disagreements / caveats
- Drew (SideShift sells Spark tooling) vs Jake/Coconote: plausibly both are right. Spark works when the organic video already contains a clear product moment; subtle integrations need re-cut paid versions. Test both.
- Thresholds are one marketplace's heuristics (mid-2026). Dawson's 3% repost bar is far lower than Drew's 7.5% Spark bar, because they're for different decisions.
- For paid creative structure see [[app-ad-creative-concepts]] and [[paid-social-creative-testing-framework]].
