title: BFCM ad creative — simple offers, offer-in-the-hook props and gift-angle UGC
slug: bfcm-offer-hooks-and-gift-formats
summary: Savannah Sanchez's Black Friday / Cyber Monday playbook (2025) — a straight sitewide % off beats tiers, BOGO and gifts-with-purchase; run stills and video; put the offer in the first second with physical text props (paper, whiteboard, phone, mirror, fingers, flashcards, post-its, cake, coffee, sand); overlay the offer on evergreen winners; and mix offer-led ads with gift-angle UGC (unboxings, real gift reactions, gift guides by recipient, last-minute shipping, money-saver and "girl math" hooks, reverse psychology, husband review).

# BFCM offer hooks and gift formats

## TL;DR
- **Keep the offer simple:** a sitewide 20% or 30% off. In Savannah's client history, tiered offers, BOGOs and gifts-with-purchase "never performed as well". They are too confusing inside an ad.[^1]
- **Offer in the first second.** Flash it on screen, say it, put it on the still.[^2]
- **Don't abandon evergreen winners:** duplicate them with BFCM primary text and headline, or overlay the offer on the video.[^3]
- Run **stills and video**: product or lifestyle images with the offer plastered on top.[^1]
- Mix **offer-heavy ads** with **gift-angle UGC** that sells the product as the right gift.[^4]

## Details
**Offer-in-the-hook props** (cheap, scroll-stopping; "the only limit is imagination"):[^5][^6][^7][^8][^9]
- Paper: throw something at a paper sign, tear it and reassemble it, flip through printed signs, burst through paper on the phone screen, paper cutouts telling a story (watched to the end).
- Whiteboard (her "most used Amazon purchase"): write the offer and why it's the best of the year.
- Phone screen text; writing on a mirror (painters' tape + reversed clip); the offer reflected in sunglasses; letters on fingers.
- Flashcard pulled from a bag; "look at the message in the clouds" → postcard; post-it notes over product B-roll.
- Food and sand: writing on a cake, in coffee, in sand.

**Gift-angle UGC.**[^10][^11][^12][^13][^14]
- *Faceless gift unboxings* with text overlays ("perfect gift for moms"; emotional hook "I would cry if someone got me this").
- *Gifts for her*: men are looking for gifts, so film real reactions, e.g. a husband behind the camera giving Loop earplugs to his wife, or "I cried, my boyfriend got me this".
- *Gifts for him*: the wife films him trying on Built Basics, ending on the "30% off" CTA.
- *Christmas styling*: red/green, elves, stockings and trees create an instant "gift" association even when people barely pay attention.
- *Green-screen talking head* over the site showing what's on sale (evergreen, but strong in Q4).
- *Gift guides by recipient*: "best gifts for Secret Santa", "for pet parents", "on a budget". Name the target.
- *Last-minute gifts that ship fast*: a surprise top hook for BlendJet, so run it in December.

**Money and psychology hooks.**[^15][^16][^17][^18][^19]
- Money on screen (bills in the trash: "stop wasting money"), "watch this before buying…", plus self-gifting deal ads (a Wayfair sneak-peek sale).
- What I ordered vs what I got: magic throw-to-real-life, website-on-a-mirror transitions.
- Reverse psychology: "Do not buy this … before watching this", "Warning", "3 reasons not to buy".
- *Girl math*: an espresso machine vs $6 Starbucks; a bag at $80 worn 100× = under $1 a wear.
- *Don't give a bad gift* (it'll end up in the back of the closet).
- *Husband review*: he reviews his wife's package badly and funnily. A new 2025 test that "surprisingly" performed.
- Simple beats elaborate: e.g. a TikTok eyes-and-mouth filter talking over the product page. "Variety and volume" matter more than hours of editing.[^20]

Most of these ads run ~30 s, with text overlays, the product within 3 s and a shop-now CTA.[^11]

## Disagreements / caveats
- **Tiered offers:** Caraway and Tushy run tiered or rotating offers through a 35–40 day period ([[holiday-sale-ugc-creative]]). Savannah's simple-sitewide rule comes from her client ads; both may hold — tiers across the season, one clear offer per ad.
- These examples are Savannah's own clients' ads shown without metrics, at a Motion-hosted webinar.
