# Message match between ad and landing page

## TL;DR
- One evergreen page for every ad wastes creative testing: Dose drove all angles to the same page from 2022 until 2026 and concluded new creatives weren't moving the needle because the page didn't speak to them[^1].
- Meta now reads the landing page as a targeting signal — a generic page dilutes delivery to the persona your ad targets (Sofi at Dose, 2026)[^1].
- Simplest version: **use the top-performing ad's copy verbatim as the page headline**[^2]. The "hook" (the overall message) should be the same in the ad and on the page[^3].
- Know the awareness stage the ad leaves people in and start the page there; buying happens only at product-aware / most-aware[^4].
- Angle-specific pages also raise LTV: they set expectations for *that* benefit (how long to take it, angle-specific reviews), so buyers don't cancel after three weeks[^5][^6].

## Details
**Why it matters (Dose).** Sofi, marketing strategy manager at the supplement brand Dose ([[people/sofi-dose]]), lists four reasons to stop sending every ad to one page: Meta's algorithm uses the page for targeting; matching messaging reduces friction ("why did I click, what am I seeing?"); it supports the creative-diversity push of 2025–26; and it improves LTV via expectation-setting[^1][^5]. Their hero SKU (a liver supplement) can be sold on energy, bloating or hangovers — but a page listing all benefits leaves an "energy" clicker unsure why it'll help their energy, so they buy, then cancel before the next bill[^6].

**Ad scent.** Ben Bennett ([[people/ben-bennett]]) names broken "ad scent" as one reason clicks don't convert: the visitor doesn't trust that the page is the hand the ad offered[^7]. He wants the offer on the landing/sales page to carry the same hook as the ad[^3].

**Awareness stages.** Joanna Wiebe ([[people/joanna-wiebe]]) uses Schwartz's five stages — unaware, problem-aware, solution-aware, product-aware, most-aware. If the ad moved someone to the middle of problem-aware, the page must join them there and walk them one stage forward, not force a premature pitch. Audit each page by its traffic source and rewrite accordingly[^4].

**Platform congruence.** Stefan Georgi ([[people/stefan-georgi]]) adds a format layer: the page should feel like the platform the click came from. Send YouTube video ads to a page led by a video, and native "news" ads to an advertorial. A plain sales page after either one "breaks the spell" ([[presell-funnel-paths-advertorial-vsl]])[^9].

**Procedure**
1. Group ads by angle/persona (e.g. "poop every day", "energy for grill dads").
2. For each winning angle, build or clone a page whose hero repeats the ad's claim/visual and whose body covers that angle's education, proof and reviews.
3. Put the angle's offer in the hero and buy box ([[product-page-buy-box]]).
4. Route each ad to its page; keep the generic PDP for email/SMS/organic (Dose's practice)[^8].

## Disagreements / caveats
- Will (guest on Dara Denney's channel) and Dara chose "bold, ad-verbatim" over "relief + science" for a Seed page — a taste call, not a test result[^2].
- More pages = more maintenance; Dose only made this practical once a no-dev page builder cut turnaround from a month to a week ([[persona-landing-pages-and-listicles]]).
